Asahi Global Hackathon: Brewing Data and Stories in Pubs and Other Outlets (On-Trade)

About Asahi Europe and International (AEI): We are Asahi Europe & International (AEI), part of Asahi Group Holdings, a leading global beer, spirits, soft drinks and food group listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Currently, we operate across 8 different production sites in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Romania, Hungary, and Italy.

Key Problem Statement:

Asahi’s Innovation team seeks a technological / digital solution to creatively enhance dynamic customer experiences at on-trade locations, enabling ethical revenue growth, facilitating premium experiences with Asahi brands, while gaining insights on consumer behavior and patterns that can be leveraged for improved brand and marketing strategies (engaging, personalized, improved brand perception)

*Note: specify on-trade locations as including bars, restaurants, hotels, pop-ups etc.


Eligibility Criteria for Participants:

We welcome diverse minds to join us on this challenge.

  • Startups/SMEs: Innovative startups/SMEs with a vision to reshape the beer industry.
  • Student Teams: Motivated teams or individuals from universities eager to turn fresh ideas into reality.
  • Consultants/ Freelancers : Technology and digital experts capable of showcasing a proof of concept

Expected Outcome of the Solution (Proprietary Solution for AEI's Innovation Portfolio):

  • Proof of Concept: A tangible demonstration of your idea.
  • Technical Description: A comprehensive plan detailing the development process of the solution.


Selection Process to Determine the Winner:

  • Phase 0 (August 23rd-Oct 13th, 2023): Gathering solution ideas and Q&A with participants.
  • Phase 1 (Oct 14th- Oct 27th, 2023): Pre-screened solutions will yield the Top 20 participants.
  • Phase 2 (Oct 28th - Nov 17th, 2023): The chosen 20 will refine their solutions into a polished Proof of Concept.
  • Phase 3 (Nov 23rd, 2023): The Top 5 performers from Phase 2 will advance to the final round.
  • Final Selection (Nov 30th, 2023): The ultimate victor will be chosen from the Top 5, ready to redefine consumer engagement in the beer industry.
